About
John Watt & Associates, LLC
|
John started JWA in 1999 after serving four terms as an
Oregon State Representative from Medford. In 1995, he
was recognized by the National Republican Legislator Association
as a "Legislator of the Year." Prior to his
involvement in politics, John was in the computer business,
providing solutions to business clients in Southern Oregon.
He came to Medford in 1982 with the Fred Meyer organization
as a manager in the apparel department. He had been in
the “rag” business for ten years previously
with The Blade Clothes for Men. John enjoys playing golf
and got his first ‘hole-in-one’ in 2002. He
wants to improve his game so he can be shooting his age
by the time he is 100! Dedicated to community service,
he serves on several civic boards in Medford. John loves
to travel with his wife, Cathy and spend time with his
family.

Our knowledge and experience in the complexities of policy making, regulatory
actions, and public services offer you a definite advantage in the legislative
process. We understand that this is a "relationship business,"
and we have worked hard to maintain excellent working relations with policy
makers from both parties, the Governor, his staff, and key officials in
throughout state agencies. We understand the process, the politics and
the issues.
The key to success in the legislative process is information. We offer
the in-depth issue research, policy development and legislative analysis
that your organization needs to be successful in its effort.
Our comprehensive measure/issue tracking system provides current status
and complete measure history. In addition, our first-hand experience in
the preparation and presentation of testimony for legislative or administrative
hearings offers you the opportunity to get your message out clearly, concisely
and, most important, accurately. We are also able to educate you and your
staff on the intricacies of the process to enable you to present your
issues effectively to those who make the decisions.
"Politics makes for strange bedfellows" is a cliché for a reason.
Coalitions must be built, and in a citizen-legislature, you don't always
know how your issues will be received. Our team of professionals brings
their reputation for integrity and effectiveness in coalition-building
and communication skills. We will assist you and your organization in
the development of communication strategies, so your time and resources
are used effectively and efficiently
John Watt & Associates will also help with the inevitable crisis
management. Our understanding of the process, and our Salem office location,
offers you a consistent presence when agendas change for policy makers,
and you and your issues need immediate representation.
Our team of professionals is able to ascertain critical and accurate
political intelligence relative to positions on legislation. We have access
to accurate, timely information on political developments and changes
which may affect legislative leadership posts, committee assignments,
and executive branch appointments. We will facilitate communication and
coordination between you and others in legislative and executive agency
activities as directed.
We will take your issues and educate candidates and
leadership, giving you a definite advantage when the issues are addressed
during the legislative session. We offer you the opportunity to effectively
participate in the election of tomorrow's leaders.
Our goal is to identify and design a plan to mobilize your political
resources, and implement your long- and short-range goals.
